Springer Nature as a publisher is a member of COPE and, and follows COPE principles and guidelines in handling cases of research and publication misconduct. COPE provides online resources for editors and forums to discuss difficult cases.

Much of the information and resources on the COPE website are available without a login. The member areas are accessible with a valid COPE member account. Journals in COPE must have a journal manager and can also have additional 'user' accounts (editorial team/advisory board members), to provide access to members-only COPE resources.

Is my journal registered with COPE?

You can find if your journal is registered with COPE in the Additional Info tab of JFlow.

How do I register a journal with COPE?

If your journal is a takeover, it may or may not be registered with COPE under its previous publisher. You can have it registered or transferred to our account immediately. If your journal is a new start, it can be registered after 12 months of publication.

You can ask for a journal to be registered with COPE or transferred using the 'Submit a journal' option in the COPE form.

How do I remove a duplicate?

If COPE has more than one page for a journal, you can request for the duplicate to be removed by using the 'Remove a duplicate' option in the COPE form.

How do I update data on COPE?

If you need help editing the Editor details (Name, title, ...) for a journal, you can use the 'Update external editor details' option in the COPE form. COPE prefers to take care of changes regarding editors internally, as these trigger other housekeeping activities.

I submitted the form. What happens now?

Journals are submitted to COPE in batches on the last working day of each month. The onboarding process takes about one month. COPE will directly notify journal Editors-in-Chief/Editors via email when registration of their journal is complete.

When a journal is successfully registered with COPE, this information is added to JFlow and - if a journal is hosted on Springer - to the Ethics & disclosures page. For the E&D page to be generated correctly, the Submission Guidelines must be completed with the appropriate ethics statements. Depending on the discipline of your journal, these are as follows:
