Title change does not negatively impact a journal’s CiteScore. When a journal changes its title, Scopus maintains continuity between the former and new titles by establishing a relational link that connects the publication history of the old and new titles. This ensures that the journal’s citation performance and publication record are preserved throughout the transition.
Following a title change, the new journal title becomes eligible to receive a CiteScore when the next annual CiteScore metrics are released. The calculation includes documents published under both the previous and current title names, provided they fall within the applicable four-year publication window used for CiteScore calculations. As a result, citations received by articles published under the former title continue to count toward the journal’s overall metric performance.
