2026 JCR - Data Freeze and Reload

Clarivate informed us that the data for the 2026 JCR would be finalized by the end of March 2027 however, they do not share the exact date when the data is frozen for the JCR. If there are data changes that were too late for the initial June release, they will be captured in the Fall JCR reload.

Here are the data changes that Clarivate will consider for the Fall JCR Reload:

JIF Denominator 

• Reclassifying document types for JIF denominator items related to citable vs non-citable counts
• Adding missing items to the denominator count
• Removing duplicated items from the denominator count
• Count adjustment due to publication year correction

JIF Numerator

• Unifying citations in the original JCR data set for a missing journal title variant, also known as a cited work variant

Unfortunately, numerator corrections that are currently out of scope for Reload are as follows:

• Any citation not included in the original JCR data set
• Citation where cited work is incorrectly attributed to a different journal in the JCR data

The standard deadline for data corrections after the JCR release is August 1. Any data requests should be sent to indexing@springernature.com, and we will file them with Clarivate.  If multiple articles need to be updated, Clarivate has a template (attached) that will need to be completed. We will receive confirmation from the Clarivate help desk regarding whether the data request has been accepted.  

Prior to the October release of the Fall JCR reload, pending data updates will be listed here: https://journalcitationreports.zendesk.com/hc/en-gb/articles/47808147130129-2026.  Then, in October, the data on the JCR website will be updated accordingly.
