Why Your Article May Be Missing in PubMed

Created by Andrew Huffard, Modified on Fri, 16 Aug, 2024 at 2:08 PM by Andrew Huffard

It is an assumption that all medical content automatically gets included in PubMed. In reality, due to the very stringent requirements of PubMed databases, it’s challenging to get journals accepted for Medline and PMC.

An article can be included in PubMed ONLY IF:

  1. The article is published in a journal that’s Medline-indexed
    OR
  2. The article is published in a journal that’s PubMed Central (PMC) indexed
    OR
  3. The article is grant-funded by NIH approved grant agencies
Please note that Springer Nature only deposits Open Access articles with funding. All subscription content will need to be self archived.

Any article not meeting the above criteria will not be included in PubMed.
