Single Author Names in Google Scholar

Google Scholar indexes content by crawling articles in HTML format. However, the system is unable to correctly identify authors who have only a single name. The indexing process is designed to recognize authors with both a first and last name, and therefore single-name authors may not be captured.

Because the Google Scholar indexing procedure is fully automated, the team does not make manual corrections or additions to author records. In order for the author to be properly indexed, the name must be updated in the published article to include both a first and last name.
