Google Scholar indexes content by crawling the article HTML, however the crawler unfortunately cannot identify authors that have a single name. Their system is set up to only recognize authors with both a first and last name. Furthermore, because the Google Scholar indexing procedure is fully automated, they will not add the name manually—the author name will need to be updated in the published article.
